Color variation over a photo

A Variation's colors tint a photo fill instead of covering it, so the picture shows through.

Try this

  1. Compare Demo 1 and Demo 2. Left, each stripe gets a color; right, each copy does.
  2. Click the layer in Demo 1, open Modifiers and click Variation.
  3. Change Vary from Shapes to Copies.
  4. Change one palette color to white. Those pieces show the photo untinted.
